Incubus was formed in 1999 by Brandon Boyd, Mike Einziger, Jose Padillas, and Alex Katuinich. The band got their professional start while still in high school, when they were able to get bookings on Sunset Strip. In 1995, Fungus Amongus was released, and in 1997 the group produced their second album S.C.I.E.N.C.E.. The second effort started to get them noticed, and Incubus was invited to open for Korn and 311.
After a short break, Incubus came back in 1999 with Make Yourself, which threw them fully into the spotlight. Sales of the album were helped along by the success of "Pardon Me" and "Stellar," but the primary mover of its popularity was the single "Drive," which remains the band's biggest hit. Incubus continued the trend they started with Make Yourself when they released Morning View. Like the previous record, it reached double platinum. The new album was driven by "Wish You Were Here." Incubus toured extensively in support of the album.
In 2006, the band released A Crow Left of the Murder, a live-recorded album that found the band take a more exploratory approach with the music. Their sixth album Light Grenades was released two years later in 2006. Although the album was Incubus' first to reach #1, it also quickly dropped in the charts. The band decided to take another break that lasted until 2010, when the band decided to go back to the studio to record If Not Now, When.
In July 2015, Incubus will embark on a tour with Deftones & Death From Above 1979. The shows, which will run through the end of August will make stops in cities across the United States.
