Chad Brownlee

Though country music was originally performed on a local level or in family or town settings, it eventually found its way into the radio, television, and concert tour businesses. Today, performers like Chad Brownlee, Tim McGraw, and Carrie Underwood have huge fan bases and manage to sell out concert halls around the world. These performers use guitars, bass, drums, and even harmonicas or banjos to create a distinctive, twangy, and down-to-earth sound.

Folk music is a traditional form of music that was revived when popular mainstream artists brought back old folk songs. Bob Dylan is one of the performers who is widely credited with reviving the art. Other popular artists include Lynyrd Skynyrd and K.D. Lang. Usually, folk music is rooted deeply into a country's culture and heritage and is passed down from generation to generation. Artist Info

Chad Brownlee (MDM Recordings Inc.) has had a showcase year in the country music world, recently topping things off with a 2012 Canadian Country Music Award (CCMA) nomination for Male Artist of the Year, and announcing his performance spot on the live national CBC TV broadcast of the awards show on Sept. 9, 2012. Since the release of his new album Love Me Or Leave Me on February 14, 2012, the talented singer-songwriter has shown the industry that his place in country music is on the rise; quite literally as he was also the recipient of the 2011 Rising Star Award at the CCMA’s. With his mesmerizing live performances, in addition to his rugged good looks, Brownlee has increasingly been stealing the hearts of his fans as he continues to tour across Canada this summer. He recently announced a new partnership with the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation, visiting camps throughout Canada and leading music workshops with the campers.

Brownlee recently shot his new video at the Salt Flats in California for the new single “Listen”, to be release on July 28, 2012 to Canadian country radio and the video exclusively on CMT Canada. His current single “Smoke In The Rain” reached #8 on BDS Country Spins and #8 on BDS Country Audience. Additionally, his first single “Love Me Or Leave Me” cracked top 10, reaching #8 on the BDS Country Spins and #10 on BDS Country Audience.

Before he picked up a guitar to hit the road rocking out on stages across Canada, Brownlee was performing on ice as a former NHL hockey star, who was a 6th round draft pick for the Vancouver Canucks in 2003. His gift for songwriting was acknowledged when he was nominated for the NCAA Hockey Humanitarian Award for his song “The Hero I See” in his fourth year at Minnesota State University. The song contributed to raising thousands of dollars for the Anthony Ford Foundation, and arguably kicked off his soon to be career shift into the country music realm.

Following a strong response to Brownlee’s self-titled debut album in August 2010, he was nominated for the 2010 CCMA Rising Star Award and took home the 2010 Canadian Country Music Conference Best New Artist Showcase Award. In addition to these commendable achievements, several of Brownlee’s singles have reached considerable success including Day After You that broke into CMT’s Chevy Cross Canada Countdown Top 10! Chad Brownlee’s outstanding display of accolades and intoxicating musical talent truly affirms he is a Canadian artist to watch as his young career continues to explode.
