Artist Info

A "comedian’s comedian," Marc Maron built his career by doing standup comedy in the '90s, radio in the 2000s, and podcasting in the 2010s. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, Maron was a regular on the underground comedy circuit in New York City during the '90s, and while specials for HBO and Comedy Central would follow, his relatively small fan base was evenly split between standup comedy fanatics and fellow comedians. It was the former that would help the comedian during the 2000s as he hosted his own radio show on the liberal radio network Air America, while it was his strong ties to the latter that would supply the big payoff when WTF with Marc Maron launched in September of 2009. The podcast would feature fascinating interviews with Maron’s friends, associates, and admirers who just happened to be folks like Robin Williams, Conan O'Brien, Ira Glass, Louis C.K., and others. Maron was riding high on the podcast’s success when he released his debut for the Comedy Central record label, This Has to Be Funny, in 2011. In 2013 he launched his cable television sitcom, simply titled Maron, while his standup television special Thinky Pain landed that same year. Thinky Pain was released on album a year later by Comedy Central.
