Bryan Adams has been a force in the rock music world since 1974. He is particularly known for songs such as "Summer of '69" and (Everything I Do) I Do It For You." Before becoming famous as a musician, however, Adams was the child of two British parents. His father was an officer in the Canadian army and later a UN peacekeeping observer and a foreign service diplomat. During his childhood, Adams lived in Portugal, Austria, and Israel.
Adams got started in music at 14, performing with his own band, even quitting school once he started finding paid gigs. At 18, he met songwriter Jim Vallance, starting a successful partnership that would last over a decade. Work produced by the duo was most popular in the 1980s, with albums such as Cuts Like a Knife (1983), the multi-platinum album Reckless (1984), and Into the Fire (1987). Adams and Vallance ended their partnership in 1989 and Adams began working with Robert "Mutt" Lange for his next album, Waking Up the Neighbours (1991).
Bryan Adam's next several albums were less commercially successful, with the exception of two compilation albums, So Far So Good (1993), and The Best of Me (1999). Adams continues to regularly tour as well as release albums and singles.
