Dig in Deep is the seventeenth studio album by Bonnie Raitt. Released on February 26, 2016, the album peaked at number 11 on the US Billboard 200. Dig in Deep features 12 tracks and received generally positive reviews from music critics.
Bonnie Raitt was born on November 8, 1949 in Burbank, CA to Broadway star John Raitt and pianist Marjorie Haydock. Although she began playing guitar at an early age, while in college, Bonnie Raitt planned to travel to Tanzania where the president was in the process of implementing a government based on socialism and democracy. However, she became friends with a blues promoter who encouraged her to move to Philadelphia to purse music full time.
Eventually, Bonnie Raitt gained the attention of record companies, who often sent staff to watch her perform. In 1970, Bonnie Raitt signed a deal with Warner Bros., and a year later she released her debut self-titled album. The album failed to increase her popularity. In 1972, Bonnie Raitt released Give It Up. This time, Bonnie Raitt had struck gold. The album received universal acclaim and to this day, is considered by many to be her best album.
Although critics praised Give It Up, Bonnie Raitt's 1989 album, Nick of Time proved to be her most popular. The album topped the Billboard 200 chart, sold five million copies, and took home three Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year.
Fast forward to today, and Bonnie Raitt has released a total of 17 albums. She also continues to spend much of her time performing for fans across the country.
