Stevie Nicks rose to fame as a member of Fleetwood Mac, but she has been able to carve her own path into a solo career as well. She has contributed to the release of 14 albums that were certified platinum, and fans continue to listen. When she tours around the country to places like Boston and Las Vegas, people continue to buy up Stevie Nicks tickets wherever she goes!
Stephanie Lynn Nicks was born May 26 in Phoenix, AZ. She began singing at the age of four, when her country singing grandfather began to teach her. Not long into her adolescence, Nicks started to write songs and play guitar. She was a member of the groups The Changing Times and Fritz as early as high school, but neither achieved much success. As part of Fritz, she met Lindsay Buckingham and when the group dissolved the two formed a duo and released the album Buckingham Nicks (1973). The LP never got off the ground and flopped on the charts, but the members of Fleetwood Mac took notice and invited the two to join their group.
The success of Fleetwood Mac skyrocketed after Stevie Nicks joined them, with the release of the album Fleetwood Mac in 1975. The record shot to #1 and was certified 5x platinum and featured the Top Twenty singles "Over My Head," "Rhiannon" and "Say You Love Me." The success helped solidify Stevie Nicks as a superstar whose fame only grew with Fleetwood Mac's next album, Rumours (1977). The album was incredibly well received and has since sold more than 30 million copies. It also went on to win the 1978 Grammy Award for Album of the Year. As a member of the legendary group, Stevie Nicks helped record three more platinum selling albums, including the #1 album Mirage in 1982.
While she was still a member of Fleetwood Mac, Nicks also embarked on her own solo career with songs that she had personally written. Her debut solo album, Bella Donna (1981), reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with the lead single "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" (a collaboration with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers). Bella Donna was the first of five platinum selling albums, with others including The Wild Heart (1983) and The Other Side of the Mirror (1989). Over the years, fans who bought Stevie Nicks tickets have seen her perform with artists like Don Henley, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Vanessa Carlton.
