The Expendables

Audiences who enjoy acts like The Expendables know that pop music and rock music are generally considered to be the types of music that the broadest audience will listen to. Pop and Rock artists target the "mainstream" through the use of catchy rhythms, melodies, and lyrics. Pop and rock music is often ranked in charts based on record sales, airplay, or a combination of both. Pop and rock artists are responsible for two of the most commercially successful and widely listened-to genres in the history of music.

One of the biggest pop music artists of all time is Madonna, who is often referred to as the "Queen of Pop." Britney Spears was often called the "Princess of Pop", and Michael Jackson was known as the "King of Pop." In a similar way, Elvis Presley was referred to as the "King of Rock n' Roll" in his day, and The Beatles are still recognized as one of the most legendary pop groups worldwide. Currently, One Direction and Lady Gaga are well known acts in the pop music genre, while the Dave Matthews Band, Pearl Jam, and Queen are among the most popular rock bands. Artist Info

Santa Cruz, California-based outfit the Expendables play reggae, ska, pop, punk, and surf-influenced rock tailor-made for sun-baked good times. Formed in 1997 and kin to other West Coast reggae-inspired jam bands such as Dance Hall Crashers, Reel Big Fish, and Pepper, the quartet, which features the talents of Geoff Weers on guitar and vocals, Raul Bianchi on lead guitar, Ryan Demars on bass, and Adam Patterson on drums and vocals, self-released two albums in 2006, and then released Gettin' Filthy via Pony Canyon. After signing to Stoopid Records (owned by their contemporaries and tourmates Slightly Stoopid), the Expendables came out with their eponymous fourth album in 2007. The year 2010 saw the release of Prove It, their fifth studio long-player, and in 2012 the Expendables issued their first all-acoustic album, Gone Soft, which featured pared-down acoustic versions of some of their best-known tracks. The band's sixth studio album, Sand in the Sky, followed in 2015.
